| October 2009 | Neiman Marcus Christmas Book
This is a cover for the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book 2009; it is not really visible on the scan, but all the paper strips in Santa’s beard are embossed and the red has a high-gloss varnish. According to the art director this cover was the best one they’ve done in years. I was very pleased to hear that! |
| September 2009 | Firmenich project (Scent)
“Firmenich SA is a private business specialising in flavors and fragrances and is a major worldwide chemical manufacturer. Their fragrances and flavors are generally used in perfumes, cosmetics, beverages, food, and other household products.” The company was interested in commissioning a physical artwork for display (it also appeared on Firmenich Christmas card this year), which now is the first in a series of commissions as the company plans to involve a different artist each year to build a collection of artworks inspired by fragrances. |
| July 2009 | Cadbury artwork (Ireland)
Usage: billboards (Ireland) The brief was to “capture, in a simple, visually evocative and iconic way, the journey of a glass and a half of milk into a bar of Cadbury Diary Milk”. I was commissioned to create one of three executions (the other 2 were done by Rachel Thomas and Alex Trochut). I photographed the stages of the work and the final ‘making of…’ slideshow was posted on the Cadbury Ireland website. |
| July 2009 | Havas project
I created these 4 artworks for the Havas annual report (Havas group is a multinational media company), the report was printed on posters, with my work on one side and the company’s information on the other. The illustrations were also printed on superb quality paper (this time without any additional information on the back or front). The art director came over to London from Paris with the printed posters so I could sign each one, they were numbered up to 40 – very limited edition. |

| February-March 2009 | Starbucks VIA Starbucks is launching a new product called VIA which is basically instant coffee: test marketing has been started in Chicago and Seattle. I have created one of the 'Instant' word executions.
"The overarching intent of the ad campaign is to clearly distinguish Via from regular, run-of-the-mill instant coffee, which true coffee afficionados tend to view with great disdain. [...] The "not instant" in each outdoor execution is shown in very basic, black lettering. But below that is the "instant," which in each of several different executions is visualized in a fanciful, florid, fun fashion that, uh, instantly makes the point about Via's supposed virtues compared to other instant coffees." Starbucks seeks instant connection via new ads, by LEWIS LAZARE Sun-Times Columnist, 16 March 2009 |
